Part numbers for 300 water pump pulley
Does anybody have part numbers for water pump pulleys that were used on the 300? I'd be interested for model year 1977. There were two different water pumps used in 1977 and the pulley I have will not work with the Flowkooler pump I just bought. My pump casting is marked D2TE-8505-AA but I need the pulley used with the other pump. Thanks!

There are two different water pump shaft lengths for the 240/300 engines. I ran into this when I installed a Ford C-2 power steering pump from an '82 Bullnose onto my '69 F100 Ranger.
My original water pump pulley only had one groove (sheave) on it. The water pump pulley I took from the Bullnose 300 had 3 grooves. When I went to put the 3 groove pulley on my '69 water pump, the 3 groove pulley bottomed out against the pump housing so the pulley wouldn't bolt up.
After some research, I found there was a shorter 3-5/8" length water pump and a longer 4-5/16" water pump. I bought a new 4-5/16" water pump from NAPA and swapped the pumps out. It's a Tru-Flow brand p/n 42070 (less than $40.00 bucks).

Ultraranger - I found your write-up after I discovered my problem. My stock water pump pulley has two grooves that both drive the alternator. I bought another pulley that I'll either modify to shorten or just cut one sheave off and drive the alternator with one belt - the width of the sheave is the difference I need to fit. Not sure which route I'll take yet. The Flowkooler pump only comes in the shirt shaft so I have to work around that.

I believe that this may be the reason (play in the water pump) why I am getting some squeal with my a/c set up.

Replaced the water pump with a Duralast model. Appears similar to the smaller pump in the previous post. No longer have any play but still have some squeal in the compressor belt. I am going to replace the a/c bracket with the early 80's type and see if this solves my problem or adds to it.
