Thanks Bill and Stu for tracking down the part numbers and possible sources for throttle cables and cable holder brackets. I'm not sure I need a hand throttle, but I already have most of the linkage parts so I may as well go for it.
That is the right number for the bracket. Wish Green Sales would have included the cable retainer clip, which has no separate number. Oh well, I'll rob a junk heater or something. Stu
Exactly! I ordered one as well and was surprised a critical piece was missing. I called this morning to find out if the missing piece was available and waited on hold for a long time. I finally gave up.
So, Stu maybe we purchased 2 of the last 3 brackets available. Only one left! Don't miss your chance to buy a 10 cent piece of sheet metal for $6.50 plus shipping.
The FoMoCo stamping adds $6.40. I've got three of the 215s, and gathered tons of pics before redoing mine but don't recall seeing that bracket before bhalemail's posting of the pic. Learn something new everyday. Stu
Agreed. I thought my truck was 100% complete and original, but I was missing the throttle bracket too and had no idea what the cable holder for the throttle should look like. Thank-you again, bhalemail.
Found the clip on a junk metal bowl 1904 that was sitting on the shelf. Exact right piece, it's a good day. If you don't have a similar parts stash I have another one too if you need it. Stu
I have some spare carburetor bowl clips too. My clips are for glass bowls and have 2 90 degree bends. If I were to straighten the bends out, I can see that they might work. Is that what you did? Thanks.
Sorry, I misunderstood. You mentioned clips and a carburetor and I immediately started thinking about the little clips that attach the bowl to the body of the carburetor. Jumping to conclusions has always been a problem for me.
We have a good local scrap yard with lots of old trucks. I may be able to find a little clip like you found. I know just what to look for. Thanks.
No problem guys, glad to help. Interestingly enough I just picked up my 52(with 215) in the fall and I had some rigged linkage that was not correct at all for the holley 1904. I picked up a 215 manifold "clump" from a seller and it had all the linkage on it, which I promptly snatched up. I was going to ditch the 215 because it ran and smoked like crap but I thought it would be a good learning experience to look inside and see if I can figure it out. Sure enough I removed the valve cover and 2 of the valve were completely off the pushrods. The valves all had about 1/4" of play. I reset them all to within specs, changed the plugs, fresh oil, new manifold gasket(had a vacuum leak), and fired it up. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. The smoke cleared up after about an hour of running it, the thing purrs nicely, and has tons of power. These 215s are nice strong motors. Now I just need to learn how to downshift the 4 spd or get me a sync'd 3 spd. I cannot downshift to save my life.
