C 6 tranny

I have a 74 F250 that has had a 429 put in it.
my question is... is a C 6 tranny just for big block fords?
is there a smallblock c 6
Im looking to get a rebuilt C 6 to meet up with the 429?

no a c-6 is a c-6, just have a trans shop rebuild your c-6 you have, shift kit and mild converter will also help

C6's are not C6's there is a difference in how many discs are in the clutch pack and there are two different bell housings for example a 360 big block is a large round bolt pattern and a 400M is not.

c6's can also be found behind 351w's in truck's and vans in the 80's

The C6 can be found behind many engines. There are differences in the clutches, valve body, and tailshaft housing etc based on the engine and application.

Torque1st is correct. C6's were put behind many engines including the 429.

There are models that will fit from 302 - 460.

But cases vary with engine bolt patterns.
