Advice - Where to Stop?
Looking for a little advice.
A little history - I bought the truck new in 2006, F250, 4WD, 6.0
2009, truck died on the road, crank - no start. went to dealer on warranty. Was something to do with the high pressure oil system, but unfortunately I dont know what they did. Possibly the STC fitting. Ran great for another couple years, then in 2011 the EGR and Oil cooler went south. I installed Bullet Proof Diesel' EGR cooler, Oil cooler, coolant filter and turbo drain tube. Again, a couple more years of strong performance. 2013, throwing p2290, p0672, p0674, hard starting, poor performance. Took it to the local shop/expert. They replaced several injectors and a few glow plugs. Ran much better, but would still throw P2290 every once in a while when I jumped on it. 2014, various performance issues. Through the course of the year I replaced the FICM, 2 glow plugs and the GPCM. Strong running till October of 2015. Family camping trip, hauling the travel trailer, truck shut down on the freeway. Noticed when I cranked it, trying to get it started, the dash gauge was showing no low oil pressure building. Had to get towed home. Wasnt smart enough to try starting it after it cooled off. After looking here, took a shot in the dark and pulled the pressure regulator. It looked fine, put it back in, and it started right up. From then to present have had a few times when, at idle, low oil pressure gauge goes to zero, but truck continues to run. Comes back up with RPM. Worsening long crank cold starts, and dash gauge will not show pressure untill a few seconds after it finally starts. About a dozen no start hot, but starts after I let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes Low power, and overall poor performance. Throwing p0672, p0673, p2285, p2623, p2290.
Ordered the IPR fitting from Accurate Diesel, air blows out of both valve covers. Went for the driver side first, visibly bad Dummy Plug O ring. Pulling HPOP cover and passenger valve cover to check them. Gonna pull the front cover to look at the low pressure oil pump. Obviously if I find the Low Pressure Pump is bad I will replace it, along with the dummy plugs. If air reveals a bad STC fitting, I will replace that. Also replacing the radiator and water pump, both are leaking.
My question is this. I have almost 250,000 miles on this truck. Would love to get a couple more years out of it. If they arent, leaking should I go after the stand pipes, injector O rings, etc, etc. What would you all recommend I do while I am in this deep?
