Names
reminds me reading steve,s story. when i was a kid dad had a 1 ton chev with ciment slabs on the rear frame for weight. it was his plough truck,i think it was a 54. i was to young to drive but my brother did, i don,t know where the name came from . we would call the truck mary louise! i wish we had pictures ,it had a mecanical winch in the back with pulleys over the cab to lift the blade.
My '39 p/u is Rusty. Years ago I had several '40 1 1/2 ton trucks which had their fair share of rust. On a trip to Oregon years ago we passed the Rusty Truck Brewery which had a rusty '58 or so Chevy flatbed parked out in front as a billboard. Using that as an inspiration we named our small fruit orchard the Rusty Truck Orchard and when I bought the '39 p/u to replace the '40 big trucks it was only fitting that it should be named Rusty and it has just enough rust to make the name fit.
I was thinking of a name too..... Dad had a Ford dump truck, he was a contractor, I remember when I was a kid my brother & I would go for a ride in the school holidays. I remember two C1800 Internationals that were from another fleet, one was named 'Cracklin Rose' the other was 'Howlin Gail' never forgot that.
Steve.
Steve.
Cracklin Rose must have been driven by Neil Diamond.....
