56 F 250

Are you asking what years used the same axle? If so, your model is a "D" in the parts and accessories manual and is labeled as a "Spicer" axle. It's the same axle used for the "D", "J", "JH" and "Y" models from 1954 to 1956.
J is a P-350 (parcel delivery)
JH is a P-500 (parcel delivery)
Y is an F-350 (conventional)
My parts and accessories manual just goes to 1956 so I can't say what models, if any, used the same axle in later years. But I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Hope that helps!

All 1956/72 F250's came with the Spicer/Dana 60. It was also used in some 1973/85 F250's, some of these also had a Dana 61-1. Some 1983/89 F250 "Light Duty" have the Ford 8.8" rear axle.
Sterling 10.25 rear axle introduced in 1985, 1986 thru the 1990's have this axle.
You want a Spicer/Dana 60 1954 thru 1972, 1973 and later are wider. However, you'll probably want a different ratio than what your truck has now.
Gear ratios: 4.88-1 available 1954/66 / 4.56-1 available 1954/72 / 4.10-1 introduced in 1963 / 3.54-1 introduced in 1966 / 3.73-1 introduced in 1967.
The case (4205 in pic [later it became 4204]) is different 3.54/3.73/4.10 vs. 4.56/4.88.
btw: Finding a Dana 60 in AK may be difficult, especially if you live "out in the boonies." I've taken 5 AK cruises, 2 of which were 'cruise tours.'
