I was wondering how I could split the manifold on my 2.3L 1992 Ranger?I was thinking about getting one of those Y-Collectors and attaching it to the manifold. Then,I can run 2 pipes from it and put 2 glasspacks exiting the rear.Do you guys think that this will work or do you think that it will cause problems?
Hey there Jacob. You can do it if you are pretty decent with a welder. Having the dual "Y" set-up probably won't increase power very much, but I think you are looking for Noise output! HEE HEE! It's going to sound like a Moped on steroids!
Ever get the chance to hear what an INDY car really sounds like running a "VEE"? Then you'll know what I mean.....
Talk with you later....
I know what you mean by the sound. It's got that all-factory system on it now and it's pretty rusted. It kinda sounds like that now.The high school kids here in Lexington are pretty bad about buying those frickin' Honda's and throwing on those turbo mufflers. That's the sound right?Well..It seems that all of these kids are doing that,so if you can't beat 'em,might as well join 'em !!
My cousin next door is a welder and I think that he can rig it up.He's also got a pipe bender so I won't have to go to the muffler shop. You know what that means..No Cats ,(<--- I love those things)!!
Do you think that I will LOSE any power with this setup?
Jacob, maybe some low-end torque, but the 2.3's aren't explosive on the start anyways.... Mid-range and top-end should be a bit enhanced, but you may not notice it if you haven't had the truck a long time. See you later and have fun....
Thanks again man.I don't know that I'll do it or not. It's probably money better spent on the conversion.Know what I mean?I think that this engine is getting a little tired myself. It doesn't have a whole lot of power. That may just be because of what it is.I don't know lol.
