So my wife's 2002 Expedition with the 5.4 finally had the original intake bite the dust at 260k miles.
I ended up getting the dorman brand and after I got it installed and had to replace a coil (coolant flooded it) and the IAC the engines runs nice and smooth and quiet... No codes or anything.
BUT... it is severely lacking power. I mean before the new intake went on there are some hills here that it could hold 60mph speed going up and never downshift from overdrive... Well now it has to downshift and even then it still looses speed unless you almost floor it!
Obviously the wife is not happy with this and neither am I...
I had read the dorman looses a little power but this is more than a little... it's rediculous!
Other than going and getting another intake is there a fix for this? I have searched everywhere and can find nothing.
If it was driven for at all with a misfire I would suspect a plugged catalytic converter. Is there any pinging or rattling from the exhaust/Engine under load?
