Anyone know what to expect with the new audio system? XLT's appear to have 6 or 7 speakers, depending on if they have Sirius radio. That is an upgrade from before. Lariat and up appear to have a carryover "10-speaker audio system including subwoofer, Sony-branded." That's fine, but isn't that what we had in the current trucks? Maybe it sounds better? The old truck stereo sounded fine, but it also could have been better.
I just got the 2017 Super Duty Lariat with Sony upgrade. I do believe it sounds better than the Sony upgrade from my 2011 F150. I think I will try going with the upgraded 5 speaker set from Stage3. It only cost about $250 so if not enough for nice improvement I can keep those speakers and add a couple of amps if necessary. I just don't want to start by spending 4K like I did in my car when I might like the sound improvement well enough with a speaker upgrade.
I can only compare my old 2004 audiophile version to the sony...i think the sony sounds crisper, maybe not as much bass but still very nice. I don't crank it up like i use to! LOL
On my Lariat (supercab) i can only count 7 plus the sub????? 2 in front doors, 2 tweeters on pillars, center, and 2 in rear doors....counting the sub is 8? Where are my other 2? LOL Got jipped!

I know this is an older post, but I just noticed it, and have been researching this myself. The brochure says the XLT has 6 speakers, and clearly shows no center speaker in an XLT interior photo. But, the XLT I test drove, definitely had a 7th center speaker, and it was functional. I was surprised and confused. Here, Troverman is saying that the 7th speaker comes w/ sat radio, but sat radio is standard in an XLT. Can anyone shed some light on this please? Is it just an incorrect brochure?
