...and within that range, anything from ~190-235*F is considered an acceptable running temperature since thermostats are not an absolute thing. The Foxbody mustangs with the 5.0 don't even turn the cooling fans on until 220*F, and the high-speed fan won't turn on until 240*F.
Ford slathered the word "N O R M A L" all across the front of my coolant temp gauge. What can I learn from that? Well, for one, if I'm a blue haired little old lady, I can keep going pretty much no matter what. But, if I'm somewhat younger and still have a brain in my head, I can still make some accurate assessments and recognize when the needle isn't sitting where it's supposed to be and take some action based on the magnitude of the fault,
For example, I don't need to know that the water temp has increased by precisely 20 degrees if I can see that the gauge needle has moved from the O to the M when nothing special has changed. Either way I need to have a look at things.
My point in posting above was to try to casually point out that there are only so many practical places to put a gauge (and the dry, electronic stepper motor types are so friggin' expensive), you have to be a little conservative if you plan to go very fair with this sort of thing.
I've decided to go with vacuum, fuel pressure (perhaps a wideband 02 instead), oil temp, and transmission temp.
Also I'm going to do some of Steve83's (from Supermotors) mods on the cluster. Pre 87' oil pressure sender so the gauge actually works right, and an anti-slosh module with a low fuel light taken out of a Mark VIII, so the gas gauge doesnt move just because I step on the gas.
No, not the 460. There is NO provisions for a fuel pressure gauge.
You need to remove the pressure regulator and get an aftermarket on with a part in it. I ended up getting a BBK one(finally a good one after 3 tries)

Isn't the fuel pressure relief valve 1/16 npt? That's what people use for the fuel pressure gauge I thought?

Hey, since you decided on an Oil Temp gauge, where's a good spot to put the Oil Temp sender in at? Curious where you and others have put it. I tried a drain screw that has a 1/8th threaded center section and it drip leaked no matter how much tape I used. Thinking it needs a bung welded into the side of the pan somewhere, but that seems like a pain in the a$$.
