Big STX configuration problems

For the XL trim level, you have two packages to improve on the base truck:

STX Appearance Package (17S) and XL Value Package (96V).

The STX gets you:
-CD player
-Chrome grill
-Shiny hub covers
-Chrome bumpers
-Cruise control
-Good looking 18" wheels
-Special STX fender vent

The XL Value gets you:
-4.2" screen
-CD player
-Chrome bumpers
-Shiny hub covers
-Cruise control

As you can see, the STX package is a MUCH more premium option over the XL value. You get the wheels and chrome grill over the XL value. The XL has a matt black grill and steel contractor wheels unless a wheel upgrade is made. The only thing missing is the 4.2" screen with Sync. You would think that any other option that lists XL Value as a requirement to get said option, would also say "or 17S STX and 4.2" screen (91M)". However, this is not the case. Two awesome options require XL value but are not allowed for STX:
-Sync 3 (913) - has 8" screen, Apple Car Play, and 110V on the dash
-Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System (874) - this is the system that shows the 360 aerial view of your truck for parking lot maneuvers or off-road. This is locked out because Sync 3 is not an option.

I don't think that the product team that put together the guide intended for this limitation. It is a real shame that the more premium (and expensive) STX package locks out these other great features. Any chance the order guide can be revised to fix this?

The STX model was not really designed to be upgraded beyond itself...just a value minded trim which focuses on exterior appearance. I'd rather have the screen than the rims and grille...they can be added after much more easily.

I just figured out that you cannot even get a rear view camera on this option. I guess there is a market out there for folks that want an upgraded appearance on the outside with an AM/FM radio only in the inside and not even a back up camera, which I almost consider a necessity on a vehicle this size.

I've gotten by on my current XLT without a backup cam. It makes you better at hooking up a trailer. But given the cost and size, I agree.

Looks like stx is for fleet orders where buyers intentionally exclude the interior components because they would never get used.

Every vehicle sold has a rear view camera of some kind, so you will have one. It won't be the big screen if you don't get that option, but it will be. Somewhere.

If you have a specific use for your truck, like maybe towing, just pick your options from there. Prioritize what items you want by starting with the stuff that makes towing better. The big screen, cameras, and 18" wheels all help to tow comfortable.
