It appears that sometime after the first of the year a price increase has occurred. I built my Ford F-150 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 online and the price went up almost $1900. The base truck rose $600 or so....but the biggest change that I observed was the Lariat Chrome Package. I know that I'm not CRAZY, well maybe a little, but the Chrome Package now charges $1495 for the package, PLUS $1095 FOR THE CHROME CLAD WHEELS, which I'm almost positive was part of the package before now!????? Anyway the truck I ordered in December was Stickered at $42,300....now it's
$44,135. I am right about the Chrome Clad Wheels???? If this is correct, I'm just glad I locked in the price in December!
I noticed yesterday there was a difference in the base price, I bought mine last month and two of the options it has are the Lariet chrome package and the 20" chrome clad wheels. I believe the 18" Non-Chrome Wheels are included in the package but the 18" & 20" Chrome are an option. By my window sticker the 20" chrome wheels and tires were a $995 option.
Get used to it, they will go up every year. Between the EPA and the cost of goods they will not have a choice. Also the mexican plants where a lot of the parts are "assymbled" are not cheap labor anymore.
It seems that alot of the window stickers I looked at had some sort of "bundle discount" when grouping certain items. To me it is Fords way of making it look like you are getting a deal by charging more up front then giving a discout at the end.
I could live with an STX if a 5.4L engine could be had with it. But all the "big Brother" electronic gadgets such as tire pressure monitors and oil change minders would still be a deal breaker for me if they could not be disabled by the dealer before delivery.
