No, the filter does not take a full quart, I can only put at most 1/2 a quart of oil in the filter ( I use Fl-1A's). Any more and at the angle the filter is in, the rest will spill out all over. So your saying that the straw takes 1/2 quart? Possibly.
So if I speculate 5 (as the manual says) plus 1/2 in the filter, it's at 5 1/2 quarts. Anybody ever put more than 6 quarts in by accident? I've put in 6 1/2 quarts by accident, still on the line.
I've changed oil in this trucks at least 100 times, surprising enough, every one is the same way, although I prefer the angle the 300's is at, over the 302 or 351.
