Loved all the options on my '15 Platinum when I bought it. Looking back, the options I could do without - seat massage, park assist. Nice but only used park assist 1x in 11 mos - mainly because I forgot about it.
I thought the massage seats would be very nice; what didn't you like about them?
Enjoy them but they are another thing to fuss w after the truck goes out of warranty. I rarely use the feature frankly even though I travel 4-600 mi/week. I think it was std in the platinum package. Just think I could have saved some $$
It's obviously personal preference, but I love the "shiny" or chrome tailgate trim. I wouldn't consider the Platinum because it doesn't have chrome bumpers. Trucks are suppose to have chrome! I see you can get them as an option on the King Ranch, but I really can't see the extra cost and limited colors for (as stated above) things that I will probably never use. I'm looking at a pretty well equipped lariat with chrome bumpers. I wish I could option the tailgate trim on it.
I love the KR F-150. However, the manual is impossible to understand. What a mess. Cautions, and warnings are so numerous that it is almost impossible to get any info. Guess it is all due to lawyers. Wish I could get a manual that wasn't full of BS. Flew 747's for years and the manual was easier to understand.
I prefer the Platinum, henceforth that is what I bought. Purely subjective as the options can be identical.
Regarding the Massage seats. I think they are great. Plus, people seem to think they put you to sleep. Actually just the opposite. They stimulate blood flow to help you stay alert and awake.
Not sure if it still exists but had I seen the option for the maroon leather interior in the Platinum before buying the KR, I think I would have likely gone that route. I like it much better than the standard black interior. My buddies Lariat has the black interior and it shows every crumb, dirt spec, etc. His truck in no more dirty than my KR but mine hides it better
As for the multi-contoured seats, I don't like them. They feel like they are pushing you out of the seat.
Chrome package was the only package I didn't want but its grown on me. I find that the painted bumpers chip paint far too easy, so the chrome seems to hold up better (had that issue on my 19' F-250 KR). Just not a fan of those chrome plastic handles on the doors. Would rather they were body color
This is an old thread, but I will jump in here ;-)
I preferred the KR for the chrome, however I could not get past the colour of the leather interior, so I went with the Platinum. The painted bumpers on the Platinum have grown on me, but I still find myself at times wanting the chrome versions. As my wife said, 'you cannot see the bumpers when you are driving'.
SESWIM, when I ordered my Platinum, my wife that these massaging seats were a big gimmick and wondered why anyone would want them. That was until she tried them out and it is her favourite feature of the truck LOL. In her case, they do put her to sleep!!! ;-)
Sasha4, I hear you on how they feel like they are pushing you out of the seat. I use the lumbar portion sometimes when driving or if my back is bothering me and find they do help a lot.
Okiesweetness, we were in your same shoes when we chose our truck (Ultimate trim wasn't available 2018, but now you have that trim choice, too).
I suggest you spend a few hours on the Ford build your own website as different trim lines allow different individual options as well as different packages. For instance, the sunroof can be deleted in Platinum, but not from the KR ultimate package... Even wheel size and tire type can be different. Only these top 3 trim lines give you the sculpted seats with high end top grain leather. Good luck! Build your perfect dream truck.
