bad vibes!
Hi all. I am new member to the forum, but not new to this site. First off I would like to thank all of you that have helped myself and others fix our trucks when even the dealer was of no help. This site has been an invaluable resource for me. Two weeks ago I purchased a 2009 f 250 4x4 4 door truck with a 5.4l from a private seller. The truck is near mint with 130,000 miles. During the test drive I felt a light vibration upon take off, which I assumed was the brand new knobby 35'' tires on the pavement. After driving it a couple of trips I realized that moving has nothing to do with the vibes. In gear at idle with foot on the brake its the worst. The engine runs smooth but I can feel a surging vibration in the seats, steering wheel, ect. Yesterday I put on the parking brake and put it in gear and i can make the vibration surge by pumping the brakes. I was tempted to have a look underneath but didn't want to run myself over!
I have read numerous posts about vibrations but most are when at a certain speed or a bad running engine. I know a great deal of ford trucks have had vibration issues so maybe someone has some input. maybe harmonic balancer?
