You've been a member since 9/2014, so you shoulda come here FIRST and asked for NOS
There are 9 TYPE 9 D6TZ-17696-A available NOS .. 2 at obsolete parts vendors, 7 at Ford dealers.
Last MSRP each: $58.33 / Dealer net cost: $35.00.
They've been obsolete for sooo long, that the dealers can no longer return them to Ford for credit, so they are STUCK with them.
One of the dealers (has 1) is located in Greenfield PA .. Pennsylvania is in-famous for being the 'road cone' capital of North America!
btw: I didn't look for the 1978/79 mirrors, but there may be some of these available NOS

You could whiz over to the Ford dealer in Greenfield, take a look-see at the mirror to see if there are any identifying marks. Ask how much, if it's cheap, buy it.

It's 35 miles from our residencia in Hacienda Slights to Santa Monica. If the 10 freeway is crowed, figure 2 hours EZ

Do you have more of an address then Greenfield PA, I did a google search in the area and there are no Ford Dealers there, I am thinking I might just start calling the local dealerships and asking if they have one.

Don't waste your time calling dealers, because I can give you every Ford dealers name/address/telephone number that have these mirrors.
These are listed on the Ford Dealer Parts Locator System that the general public has no access to.
