Input shaft problems

I have a lifted 2000 excursions it's the triton v10 and I'm swapping transmissions(4r100).... After about three days of fighting with the torque converter I decided to measure the input shaft on the old tranny and noticed the shaft was farther in the tranny than the newer one... So I tried to push the input shaft in but can't... I've read a few things that said some people have taken the input shaft out and slid it back in.. It will not budge in or out... What can I do to get it out? Do I have to remove anything to make it happen or is there a trick to do it... Thanks for the help

I don't have any answers, I've never touched the tranny in my truck (yet).

Hope someone comes along with some suggestions.

You could try the transmission forum here as well. Good luck

Oh, and welcome to FTE!
