I'm at a loss... 1966' F100 352 2brl.... I have installed 3 distributors so far, all of them have stopped sending signals to my coil... 2 of them where drop in flamethrower II. I do have a matching wires and coil. Running E3 plugs... Truck runs amazing then out of no where it takes a horable turn..... Starts dropping cylinders and has no power, backfires and sputters.... I have replaced all my power cables and everything is isolated and I have 2 grounds on the truck. No one has any ideas I am hoping you guys may have the answer to what I missed.... I even jumped the battery to the coil and it's still hit or miss. Any help would be great.....
Welcome to FTE. I'm sure others will chime in. 3 dizzys and the all crapped out on you ??? So have you replaced the dizzys complete or the components in side? Do you own a DVOM and have you checked to see if the voltage feeding the coil and dizzy is as per flamethrowers recommendations. My wild guess is that your cooking the components. Also check the charging system rate (voltage) at the battery with engine warmed up and at about 2000 RPM. Are you using old style mechanical volt regulator or newer electronic type. Feed us some more info
I checked with my ohm meter and all is well. I put a new voltage regulater on with a new Alternator.. It's the craziest thing... It's runs perfect then looses a couple cylinders.... Timing light says everything is fine, constant fire... Coil registers correct resistance.... Did a compression test and it was all around 120psi... I'm putting a new carb and a painless wiring kit this week... Let's see if it was a vacume issue.... That's my only avanue..... Thanks
