I have a 2007 Expedition with 98K miles on it. I had a heater hose break yesterday. The one that has the tee in int. The tee cracked and anti freeze was everywhere. Replace the hose. Before we I discovered the hose was broke the truck was running ruff and the check engine light came on. It threw a #2 miss fire. After replacing the hose and getting coolent back in it was still running ruff. I pulled the #1 and #2 coils and they were damp. I dried them off. Truck was running better and did not throw a code. Several hours later we had a 40 minute drive and just did not seem right. But did not throw a code. Drove back home and it threw the P0302 code during the last 10 minutes of the drive. I pulled the number 2 coil and it looked dry. Drove it to work 40 minute this morning and seemed fine...hesitated a couple of times under load but did not throw a code. Not sure what to do next...
If something was leaking into the plugs, it may have fouled the plugs. Have you replaced the plugs at all? If not, this might be a good time to replace them all. A full set of 8 will run you $65-80 depending on where you get them from. They're easy to do yourself, but if you have the 2-piece plugs have the removal tool on hand just in case they break. You may also want to check the coils, especially those first 2. You can get a tester for ~$20.
