the billet ones attached with a pin , I saw that it was a poor design so I modified them to use 2 pins . still no go .
so Question is what to do ?
oh window actuators were cleaned and lubed when I did the interior make over .
any help suggestions
I just reassembled my doors after paint. I noticed my original 68 handles were different from the ones off my 72 parts truck. By 72 they were making them thicker and stronger. Same basic appearance though.
I had two window cranks break in the last couple of months on my daily driver. Robbed replacements off my project truck. Finally ordered the (in my book) high-dollar replacement handles from DC (crank and *** total about $20 or $40 for a set). Have not pulled out the punch they recommend to install said *** onto said handle yet, but will say the handle feels very solid.
Hmmm, twice the wife gets in the truck, fiddles with the window crank and breaks it. Sounds like the moral to the story is to tell the wife not to touch the window cranks. ......"and here, honey, let me get that door for you." (°°°°as he thinks to himself: "she might break the door handle too"°°°°).
During the hotter months here - March/October - when my wife rides with me, I make a habit (try to anyway) of opening the door for her when she rides with me and while the door is open, I roll down the window and open the vent. As to the door handle, the driver's side is a little hard, so she whines about that as well. And she hates the buckles and lack of adjust ability of the seat belts.
