i have the trusty 302 in my 87 f-150 and i cut my muffler off to get ready for the flowmaster, when i cranked it it sounded quite beefy, infact it sounded better than any truck i have ever heard without a muffler, it sounded so good that it made me post this, so, is there such thing as a 302ho for an '87, i know before the truck was mine the engine was rebuilt but they got sent parts for a 351 and i think used a few parts out of that kit before gettin the right kit for the job.

the thing that says "waitin for engine to blow" down at the bottom doesnt have anything to do with the post, the engine works fine i just want it to blow before i spend money on it cause i want a 351.

There is, and there isn't. While (to my knowledge)Ford didn't offer the 302HO as an option in the '87 trucks, if you check with your local NAPA or other reputable supplier of remanufactured engines, they'll likely list an "optional" 302HO in addition to the regular 302 if you check applications for your year and model. What's the deal? Basically, this...... the 302HO (with the roller cam) is pretty much a drop in replacement, requiring only a firing order change (which your stock computer will tolerate) and distributor gear change. Given this, and the popularity of the engine, a lot of the engine remanufacturers offer it as an option for a few dollars more (actually, a couple of hundred), even though Ford never did.
