Oil Filter removal TIP

I have a '92 F150 w/a 302 V-8. I used to get oil all over the cross member under the engine whenever I took the oil filter off, even when I stuffed paper towels up there.

I have found a better way and it works like a charm. Don't laugh, but I use the large size kids diaper, open one face up and place it under the filter up on the cross member. Twist off the filter and PRESTO, the diaper catches and holds every drop of oil. I no longer dread changing oil.

Hope this helps you guys!

Hey, a man's got to do what he's got to do ! I've known people to tie such things up against the pan to catch the oil from a leak they didn't want to fix just yet...so...

Good tip! One of those things i would have never thought of. Hopefully I'll remember it next time I change my oil.

Make sure your wife knows what you're doing. If she finds one of those Huggies in the garbage can after an oil change, you're kid may be getting an unnecessary visit to the pediatrician!
