Carb cleaning

I have been soaking my edelbrock 1407 to get ready for a rebuild

After I got all the oil and crud off, I noticed the clean linkages, rods and outside springs are heavily rusted.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to paint these or if having them e coated is only option,

edelbrock has the rods but not linkages.

It may be easier to just purchase a new carb off X bay

Anouther options is to get a parts doner off X bay

If it's rust it might be worth trying the electronic or electrolysis method of removal. Lot's of web pages and YT videos on the procedure I'm sure.

I've done electrolysis cleaning on several things now and it's awesome but don't stick anything aluminum in. I thought about the rusty stuff on carbs I've done but I always just let them be.
