its a ride height issue.. not a weight carrying issue.
look at mine.. trailer is 8,300 and I do use a WD... but I also carry 1,500 in the bed of the truck. ( large motorcycle , folding ramp, generator, tools )

Remember boys and girls, the WD hitch does more than raise up the rear end of your truck. It also DISTRIBUTES weight back to the front axle, which gives more stable handling.
Not REQUIRED in all cases, but an IMPROVEMENT in every case. In my opinion, it should be the first step with any towing setup before suspension modifications.

Agree. Did a lot of research on this vs. that before I got our TT. You can do different things to prevent the sag but distributing the weight back to front is the main concern. Go with a WD and solve both problems.
