Hi, I'm new. I've have read your posts without being a member and so I decided to join. Thanks for having me.
I have a 99-00 Ford 7.3 with 235 hp and my 01 has 250hp. Both are automatics. What would make the 01 have more hp? Can I get my 99-00 7.3 to go up to 250 hp? What would I have to change without adding a chip to bring the hp up to 250 on the 01?
I bought an '02 F250 4x4 brand new and very shortly added a BD tow chip. The chip supposedly gave and extra 60 hp and 110 lbs.ft of torque and helped the shift points........ and man what a difference it made in how the truck ran. It was sooo much more fun to drive and had the extra power to tow the horse and boat trailer. I just sold the truck last month to buy my new '16 F350 dually. It had 140k on it and never a problem with the chip, I suggest you look into it.
thanks for the reply. As far as a chip goes, don't want it. I am looking for what made the 7.3 in 01 to be 250 hp. The Diesel Power Magazine article I had already read. It says a a calibration change was made in the fuel/and induction system. What was the calibration? Anybody have any ideas here?

The increased horsepower came from the reprogram ( factory chip).
