Carb not working right
I have a 1979 Ford F100 with a rebuilt 1971 360 V8 cyl 2 barrel carb. engine installed. Well I got the truck needing carb. work, i took the carb apart and set everything as needed and cleaned it well, it had a electronic choke and the spring coil was removed and was replaced with a manual choke. Well my question is this, I can't get the engine to run smooth unless I mess with the baffleplate on the carb. is it possible for the manual choke to be installed just by removing the black part of the electronic choke and installing a manual choke? Why I'm asking is with the manual choke installed if I pull the choke out in the truck it will open the baffleplate all the way and push it in and it closes the baffleplate, but the problem is the baffleplate can't move inbetween on it's own when the engine is running warm, that makes it run real rough or even stall out on me. If a manual choke is installed on a carb. that had an electronic choke, is there anything else that should be removed except that spring coil inside the black cover??? This is my first posting here at this site, hoping that I will be able to help others as well as finding a few answers myself. I hope I have provided enough info for you to answer my question.
