EQUUS is a decent brand , I have their Air fuel gauge .
Brought in the tach and returned it at O'Reillys, employees never heard of my issue, but with my father being a electrician and grandfather a mechanic and them both agreeing that the tach was the issue. Ordered a Sunpro tach and will update on my hopefully non burnt down truck soon!
Things that rarely or never caused problems now commonly do. Hardly a week goes by without someone coming in with a condenser problem.
Old reliable companies have been bought by China or Chinese related offshorers. All electrical stuff from China is garbage. Even stuff from old reliable companies that have been bought and offshored.
The final quality inspection of Chinese parts is you.

Said perfectly. Of course with me being electronically inclined, I attempted to pull the tach apart and inspect for a short, but nope! Equus said a big F*** you and made it a sealed tach. Sunpro will be in tomorrow.
Will have an update Thursday morning as a PIA front wheel cylinder is leaking and will have that project and a part tim job
Got my Sunpro in and installed (exact same way) and wow! For the same price, it's not a slow reading fire starting POS. It's also much bigger, but the screw in the back just will not go all the way in.
Excuse my crappily ran wires but this definitely added a little something special
Shorter screw. You know, kinda like the comedy routine when you go to the Doc and say "it hurts when I do this". And the Doc says "then don't do that".

Glad tach #2 worked out for you.
Should have clarified, the larger black screw that goes on the back of the tach to hold the bracket onto it won't go in all the way. But as long as I don't bump the tach it'll stay
