Hey guys my bearings are toast in my drivers side rear hub. 10.25 full float.
I have the axle out and the nut off. The outer bearing is clearly busted. Even blown up some of the roller bearings in it.
I cannot for the life of me get the hub off.
Here's what I tried:
A puller that I had(now broken)
Putting the tire on and beating on it
I made a steel bar that bolted to the hub and tried to slide hammer it off as well as beating the f out of it with a bfh
How the heck do I get it off? I did all the things the book said.
Also: at this point I'm sure my spindle is crapified. Should I just get another axle? I know the spindle isn't replaceable. I have a lead on an axle with the same gears and limited slip for $200
I know that when I did mine that the rear seal clung to the spindle in a fashion I would never have imagined. If it hadn't finally come apart I never would have believed it could be the seal causing the problem. These 10.25 axles use a seal that rotates within itself. What actually sits on the spindle does not turn and glues itself to the spindle over time.
Fortunately my axle puller did not break, but I was getting worried!
