The driver side seat heater was working until I stopped and got gas then the button will lite up but no heat. The fuses are ok and the wired all good and hooked up, is there a way to replace this or is it a whole new seat. The book covers so little on Seats maybe cause its an extra option not sure. HELP with this issue my wife uses it all the time.
There is a heater pad on the bottom and the back. If both worked before but only one now works while the other doesn't then it's probably a bad heating element. If neither work then it could be a blown fuse or a bad controller.
Beyond that we can't look anything up since you didn't tell us what vehicle you have.
My '06 Navigator with heated and cooled seats has a filter for each front seat. I suppose the filter could get so clogged up air doesn't pass through.
To echo the above post, I would recommend posting year, model and mileage so the rest of us can understand what kind of assistance to give. Location of the vehicle helps in some situations as well.
Besides year and model, if the vehicle has 10,000 miles or 310,000 miles usually those are two different vehicles. If the vehicle is located in Michigan or Florida and you have a drivability issue or a HVAC issue understanding the environment helps.
Not that this applies to you at all, (For other posters) if you type in English and use spell checker this helps tremendously to fully understand what is being communicated.
Ok Thank you I have a 2001 expedition Eddie Bauer edition, it seems to nickel and dime me to death, also I have a fabrication shop can I make a new track bar, I have the specs for it, would you do this if it were tour vehicle?
To answer your question from post one, the seat does NOT need to be replaced. Likely it can be repaired.
What book are you using that was referenced in your first post?
The Expedition/Navigator shop manual I have goes into depth on this option.
Have you been under the driver's seat at all?
Any loose wiring?
Yes I have inspected all wires and connections so I believe the heat pad is out guess I will have to replace it before this winter, thank you for all the info it really helps. It's on the road again so I happy seeing it's my favorite vehicle, but I do only own Fords also.
^^^^ +1 That OEM piece is exactly like the one on your vehicle. (well before it broke) Made with gauged metal designed and made to fit the suspension on your vehicle. Could you make a better one? Likely yes. And at what cost in your time and effort. And you would want to replace both sides.
Write the check and spend another "nickel and dime" to get an exact fit. Not sure how it original one broke and that may need to be addresses.
If it broke due to rust likely the other side is an issue
If it broke while moving the other side may have stretched.
These hold together the rear axle alignment. Besides getting the tires in alignment for bear wear, control of the vehicle would be important as well. Compressing or stretching bushings doesn't the keep integrity of the rubber and maybe metal.
And in another thread the poster was traveling at 55+ mph on the interstate hit a pot hole breaking at least one control arm, the drive line left the vehicle - the track bar and other pieces are of questionable condition. (At least in my opinion. My standard in repairs and parts may be over the top for some. And I am good with that since I do all of my own work. I only have me to yell at.)
