So I have a 1979 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 351 Cleveland along with a np435 4 speed and a 205 transfer case would I be able to swap our the 4 speed and put in a zf 5 speed out of the 90's ford trucks and be able to put the 295 case on along with it or would I have to have a big block to even get the trans to mount up please help?
I'm proceding to put it in despite everybodysay put a Cummins in it. If y'all get any advice for wiring to narrow it down that would be great. If not I'm gonna experiment with splicing wires. I'll post picture of progress and feel free to drop any advice.

That thread deals with the 351m/400 which uses the BBF "385" pattern. OP will need a ZF from behind a 351W if they exist in his part of the woods.
IMO if they exist, I would try to find a trans/TC combo to eliminate the matchup issues. YMMV.
More complicated than it should be.
Also, given the age and type of vehicle, if you are looking at trying to get MPG improvements, I doubt this would ever pay off. Better cruise, replacement of a worn out 4 speed, emmmm... maybe the 5er is the way to go.
Since its a "swap", I'm assuming that youll be putting the 4 speed back in place of the ZF-5 in the 90's truck, correct?
You should have no problem getting the ZF-5 into your current truck, but getting the NP435 4 speed into the 90s truck is going to be a lot of problems(different bellhousing, hydraulic to manual clutch, crossmember, etc)
Be sure to document the 4 speed/90's truck process, Im interested in seeing how it works out for you.
