I have a 78 F250 4x4with the 300 I6 and NP 435. I'v wanted to upgrade to the ZF for awhile, i want to be able to drive down the highway at a respectable speed at a resonable RPM. And my 4 speed is going downhill, so now looks like the time to do it. So what do I need to know about the swap? what trucks should i look for at the junkyard? And what other parts do i need? will my transfer case bolt right up with the ZF? Custom length driveshaft?
I tried useing the search tool, but couldnt come up with much on this swap. but theres gotta be someone out there whos done it?
And I know you can use a NV 4500, but iv decided aginst it, because our company trucks have the ZFs and im used to them, and like them. and besides, anything thats from a cheby has no buisness in my ford

since your a small block setup its pretty much a bolt in situation. what transfer case is the question if 205 it can work but some mods to be done. have some photos in my albums. if you can find a tranny with transfer case and all the linkages you saved yourself a lot of time. if doing a hyd clutch gonna need a to get all the attached parts for sure. need to find a donor truck for hyd pedal and linkages. gonna need to shorten your driveshaft and lenghten your front drive line. make sure your yokes fit if changing transfer case. transfer case is the ? talk later.
