I've had this project for a few years now...so it's more than over due to get started and completed. The pictures aren't the best but they are better than nothing. Little back ground both trucks are 1978's one is an Indiana truck (4x4) and very rough. The other (2wd) is a southern truck that is clean for being 38 years old. I started this project back in March so we have some catching up to do.
1978 F250 4x4
Dana 60 front and rear
4speed NP435/NP205 4:10
460 L&L fenderwell headers
Supposed to have and L&L flywheel we will find that out soon.
1978 F250 2x4
Completely stock fairly well optioned truck accordingly to the Marti Report.
Picture time....
Starting with the 4x4 truck, tear down, to having the frame blasted.
I like the f250 just as it is, I'd just be searching for a color matched tailgate.. I even like the wheels...
Thanks...the wheels are eagle alloy series 058 16x8's. I also have the original tailgate it's in better shape than the rest of the paint on the truck though as it was off for sometime.
I decided to por15 the frame vs having it powder coated. I felt like I could fix this option easier if the paint ended up getting chipped, cracked, bubbled or just came off for some reason.
Front end back under the frame. The end will be going under this weekend along with sitting the cab on the frame. I went with new plastic gas tanks from bronco graveyard rear and midship along with new stainless fuel lines. Have to finish putting the tanks and lines in this weekend as well.
Update pictures from the weekend. We accomplished quite a bit this weekend, I had a lot of help from my brother with his help a lot of this wouldn't have been accomplished.
We got the rearend in, transmission and transfer case sitting in the truck, cab cut for the 4sp and transfer case and the cab set. Here are the pictures. She's sitting a little taller than a few post prior. The front brakes are seized up on the front so that's why it's on the dollies. I will get a picture of the truck with the tires on soon.
Your project has caught my eye. I have a couple questions for you on the 2wd plastic tank. Could you post a couple more photos of that setup you are running? I'm curious if the 2wd plastic side tank mounts the same as the 2wd metal tank.
Also, did you get your brake proportioning valve aftermarket, or are you using the original just cleaned up?
I'll be keeping an eye on whether you'll need to swap your steering column as well as I was told the 2wd is different... would love to see yours hook right up!
Looks awesome!! Good lord, you got a lot done in a short amount of time. Def following and good luck. At this speed, you'll be done in a month. Haha
Thanks time will tell I was hoping to be done by the middle of June that's not going not to happen now I don't think. I have probably spent nearly have my time so far at the blasting cabinet and painting parts.
