2001 bad IDM?

I just started having an issue on my 01 7.3 f350 with 203k miles, it will crank much longer then normal to start. If you shut it off then try to restart right away it starts normal, if you wait 10 minutes long crank again. if you shut it off and turn key back on but don't start it you can wait an hour then start right away. IDM bad?
Vacation in 2 weeks and I would like to get this fixed first.

Thanks, Rob

Definitely sounds electrical. I don't really know anything about the IDM other than it operates the injectors... It makes sense to me though.

No check engine or codes, just got the cel when I unplugged the ICP sensor. I am replacing that today due to leaking oil through the plug.

Be sure to clean the harness connection with contact cleaner. Might be the end of your worries right there.

If you had oil penetrate the plug, I would replace the pigtail as well. Inexpensive and helps eliminate the worries. Dieselorings.com is a site supporter and has them, I ordered from him and received them quickly with good communication.

So it's basically a hot restart issue? Usually, those point towards IPR issues.

So hot or cold it will be a hard start/long crank if you try to restart right away?

If you restart right away it starts fine, if you shut it off and turn key back on but don't start it can sit for a half hour or more and will start right up like normal. Let it sit ten minutes with key off long start.
