So I am new to posting on these forums, and hope I am posting in the correct place, however I have found these forums extremely helpful. One thing I have noticed is I have found a lot of people recommending AutoEnginuity over other scan tools. I personally have used Auto Enginuity for quite some time. I was stuborn and didn't want to waste money on a different scan tool because I owned that one. AutoEnginuity advertises having enhanced data, but their enhanced data means one piece of data. I paid good money for enhanced data and had nothing to show for it. I tried contacting their customer support and time and time again I was not able to get anything from this company, no help, no update on the data, and the company was actually really rude.
I recently purchased a Ease scanner with J2534 reprogramming capabilities. The EASE tool got me interested right away because of how user friendly it is. Not only is it user friendly, when they say enhanced data they stand behind it. I have only had one problem so far, which ended up being on my end, however the technical support at the company was fast and very polite.
Again I'm sorry if this thread is out of place, however I just believe that when I tell someone I am competent in what I do, I want to have the right tool. I'm not saying go with the EASE tool, I just don't want AutoEnginuity tricking people into buying it anymore.
I didn't say I was new to the forum, I said that I am new to posting, I was always able to just get my information from searching threads. And I am not exactly sure how much the scan tool alone is, but the package I have is actually the one with the scantool and j2534 reprogrammer all in one tool. That ran me about 2500. Id have to imagine that you are missing a cheaper package. The link you posted isn't working for me, so I can't really compare.
On a Ford Truck forum? I would say info about their truck, what brings them to the site, maybe a question. If it's a legit post then my bad, but when I read it, it looks a lot like an advertising spam post. I could care less either way as my cheap $150 scan tool does everything I need it to. I just don't want to see this forum go the way of some other truck forums I used to belong to. To each their own though.
I just wanted to be clear I wasn't trying to advertise or anything, If your using the tool just for personal use i'm sure your 150 dollar tool is great. May I ask what tool you use that is only 150 dollars?

It is a Harbor Freight special. Pulls codes and logs some data. What do you use the Ease for on your 2004 F150? Seems like a simple code scanner and the Torque App could tell you everything you need to know.
To be honest I would have just used a simple scan tool if it were only on my own vehicle. But I do a lot of work with more than my own vehicle. I mainly work with a few construction and landscaping vehicles with their work vehicles. For example, my one client was having a hard time with his work truck and he was ready to buy a whole new transmission because he thought his was going. It turned out I just needed the reprogram the control module for it.
As for you tom, you may be mislead by the enhanced pids you see. Many of those PIDS are wrong, and AE claims to have a lot of data that only offers three or four PIDS. If you hook up the EASE tool you will notice a huge difference. You are paying for quality with the tool you choose. I also like the graphing capabilities of the EASE tool. Its much better than only being able to record 10 seconds. Maybe AE does fit your needs, but it does not fit mine. Everyone is welcome to their own opinions. The price is steep if you want it for a personal tool I will admit, it would be nice if they offered a personal option for people who only work on their own truck.
