Transfer case without 4lo?

I have a transfer case here mated to a 4-speed trans that has 2hi,4hi,and neutral(I think it has neutral) My question is WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING? And why would anyone make a transfer with no lo range? By the way, this thing kind of looks like a NP 205 only not as thick. Thanks.

Transfer case without 4lo?

I have a similar T-case in my 75 F100. Mine is a dana 21. Its a married unit to a NP235 with a 6.68-1 first gear. I guess they figured that granny low was good enough.

my 74' f100 has the same thing, dont really need anything lower than the 1st gear unless you really want it. any lower and you would break something with a lot of power
