Missing fuse box cover

I've a 1994 Ranger XLT 4.0L with a missing fuse panel cover. I'm trying to get the horn to work and we've traced the problem to a missing fuse. Unfortunately, there are 3 empty fuse slots and no info on their rating or use. Anybody know where I can get the proper info. Truck was a salvage, no ops manuals, and sloppy work putting it together.

Seeing as how this is a salvage vehicle & the work wasn't nicely done, you may have need for other wiring info, so enter your needed vehicle particulars here to have a look at all it's electrical pictorials. Search Wiring Diagrams
I'd try hard to find a fuse box cover, to keep corrosion causing moisture & dirt out of there, lest you develop more electrical woes. Most good salvage yards have national contacts & can locate just about anything we have need of.

Thanks pawpaw for the link. I'm heading out to a salvage yard this afternoon looking for various trim. I'll just put the cover on the list.

Attaboy, good idea to get that puppy covered to keep out as much corruption as possible. Let us know how it goes.

Well discovered why horns didn't work. After removal of much trim and grime found both horns damaged (driver side only a one lead), electrical coming from two different sources and missing wiring. I'm just going to install new horns, relay and wiring then tie that into existing horn switch.

Any suggestions?

Make sure you use the proper wire gauge automotive wire, routed to protect it & have it correctly fused.

Yep, got brand new wire, an in-line fuse and the tubing to protect. My other question now is:

Do both horns mount on the drivers side under battery or split one to driver one to passenger side?

Haven't found any documentation yet to answer this.

Hank, I did find one damaged horn on left side under battery compartment. Unable to tell if both hung from same bracket and only one blue wire ran to horn. Was there an adapter coming off the harness so the single harness went to both leads on each horn?

The more I dig into the wiring, the weirder it gets, even has my neighbor (a mechanic) said it looked strange. But horns are the only electrical part not working.

I hung both off same bracket made a jumper for 2d. There was not a relay in the OEM package so ran wires for one thus I have new wires to the horns. My problem was the spring in the steering wheel had broken! Though had a bad relay, but factory diagram only shows relay for veh's with cruise control. BTW I only had one horn on the truck a wimpy one at that.

Update on horns:

Like Hank85713 hooked both horns to same bracket, built a jumper from haron A to Horn B, and ran to existing wiring. Works just fine so far. Only problem I had was trying to find an existing jumper, but nobody carried anything. Had to use parts from a marine wiring kit. Now all insulted and sounding good.

Thanks all for your help!
