Hi all. My backup camera is not clear at all. It's like it's on low contrast or some thing. The colors also look washed out. Terrible resolution. Kinda hard to explain. My 13 xlt camera was crystal clear, very vibrant. It was almost hd complained to the new truck. Granted the 13 had the picture on the mirror and the new truck displays on the big screen. I don't know if the lens or something was changed. Anyone else who had a older truck and got a new one notice a difference in picture quality? Other than that, loving my new toy.
Something doesn't sound right. I've never considered my camera to be low res; it's not HD, but very good. I don't remember anything in the settings that might affect it, so maybe you've got a bad connection...or something. Have you gone to a dealership and compared a few other vehicles?
I think it's the same resolution, but with the bigger screen, the pixels are bigger. It will look "sharper" on the small screen because the pixels are smaller.
Wonder if there's such a thing as a drop-in replacement camera? Of course that might also mean an upgraded display screen.
I will be watching this closely as mine (2016 Lariat) is exactly as you describe. No where as clear as my 2010 was. I have had it at the dealers but nothing they could do. I looked at several 150's in their lot and they were all as bad. I am hopping Ford comes up with a software upgrade to fix this.
Mine is kinda grainy looking too, definitely not sharp at all. Not bad, but not good. Cameras are cheap these days. There's no reason for such low resolution.

That's funny. Lighted vanity mirrors would have been nice though. I bet you gat them in a $15,000 Kia. I showed my friend the truck and he said his camera is the same and he has a 15 xlt. I guess this is as good as it gets. He also accused me of trying to one up him with my new baby. I can neither confirm nor deny that I think I'll go to the dealer and check out a couple trucks to compare, just for piece of mind.
Mine is comparable to the Ram Limited I just traded in. As long as I can see my trailer tongue (which I can) I'm good. The only complaint I have is it defaults to the 360° split screen. I'd prefer the other way full screen and switch to the split screen if I need to.

I would agree with this. I have seen both and I actually own a vehicle with the large screen. I have no complaints about the resolution but I can see the difference and I believe that GlueGuy hit the nail on the head.
I have the sync 3 large screen and find that the long range focus is good but not crystal clear, but when tapping the + for close up I can nearly see the rust flecks on the hitch ball. The + option definitely gives me the sight picture to "tap" the target while hitching.
Newbie here. Didnt see it in the responses but have you cleaned the lens? I know its obvious but my new 15 F150 did same not long after I got it. Used a qtip with a quality lens cloth and it was just like new. Just a thought.
