Im putting a 351w in my truck and ive got the original np435 transmission that works perfect as far as I know. All I need to figure out is what bell housing I can use that'll work to bolt the two together (if possible). Thanks
IIRC, the NP435 has a wide bolt pattern like a top loader... if that works out, then I think the issue will be the input shaft length between whatever you it had (and its bell) to the 351W and its manual bell.
We need more info on your truck. F-100 or 250? 2wd or 4wd? A 351W is a small block Ford (289, 302, 351W) so its uses the SBF bell housing pattern. The 240/300 six cylinder also uses the SBF pattern. I believe that the NP-435 and the T-18 4 speeds use the same bell housing. I don't know about the 3.03 three speed, but it might also use the same bell housing. This gives you several options for bell housings, 69-79 302's, and 240/300's.
Another thing is that since you are converting to a 351W, what are you using to mount your engine? If 2wd, use 69-79 302 perches, and 77-79 351M/400 perches. If 4wd, you must use 77-79 351M/400 engine stands.

That's some good info Rich. Cleared up some of my questions. Makes sense, I believe the 4 speed top loader and the 3 speed will use the same bell housing. You will have to figure out the clutch mount on the engine. The 302 used to have the ball socket threaded mount on the block, newer blocks use some bracket. I have a make shift one now but am looking for something more better.

Im pretty sure it wouldn't matter.. But its a 72 3/4 ton 4wd F250. But thanks for the info. Ive got the mounts figured out, the guy I bought the truck from gave me boxes of parts and buckets full of bolts. So ive got a pile of engine mounts that I can make work.
