Howling sound while towing...
This weekend I was towing a 7,000 lb trailer uphill with my 2008 6.4L and noticed a really loud revving sound. That's the best way I can describe it. It's as if the sound was on top of the sound of the motor. Then just as suddenly, it would disappear. Relatively moderate load and never hit more than about 3,000 RPMs. Is this normal? Could this be a fan or some part of the cooling system? Possible a leak on the intake?
