Well when I put the K&N in I saw 1MPG more...Now my V10 with 4:30 LS rear end 4X4 is getting 10.2 MPG no matter how I drive...
My Gibson exhaust came in yesterday and I installed it today...I don't know what MPG increase it will get, but it has crap loads more power...and the stock exhaust weighs a ton so there is also a few pounds shed too....
I am going to San Diego tomorrow and will check MPG and add to this post Monday.....
So far I am real happy with the Gibson...Also got the new Rough Country shocks today....Will have them put on next week...too much work just to do the exhaust...I'm pooped...
I just purchased a 2000 Excursion Ltd. V10 4x4. It already had the Gibson installed and it was my one complaint during the test drive. There was so much interior noise coming from the exhaust. I opened the rear vents and the noise did not get any louder or quieter. So I new it had something to do with the exhaust and would not be that much of a problem.
Took it to a mufler shop this morning and the tech noticed it was touching the gas tank shield. He took it in the bay and for $5 welded the exhaust back into place. Took it for a drive and it was soooo much quieter!!!
I haven't noticed a noise problem...I will make sure there is no touching going on between the exhaust and the rest of the truck...
I haven't filled up yet...dunno the MPG...I will say going up the mountain between El Centro and San Diego on I8 was much better....Before the truck spent most of the time in a lower gear, now hardly at all...only in the steapest grades....
MPG may be bad since I was in a hurry and never went below 80MPH....maybe still 9-10 MPG.....
I'm sure the Gibson is a great system. It always made me wonder though, why they offer it in aluminized steel? I know it's available in stainless also, but they always post the price for the aluminized version.
Doesn't make much sense to rip a stainless system off and install a system made from lesser grade material, especially being a higher performance system.
