Must Be Electrical
I was towing a trailer with my hot rod in it to the Smoky Mountains on Mothers Day I pulled into a store to buy a case of beer and when I came back out the truck wouldn't start. I was reasonably sure that the problem was the switch on the clutch pedal as I had had this problem in the past and fiddling with that switch solved the problem. It was a Sunday the closest Ford dealer was at least a day away and 40 miles, if they even had the parts to fix it, which was very doubtful because of the rinkydink area of Tn I was in. I was willing to have it towed but couldn't find anyone on Mothers Day that could handle that big of a truck with a 20 ft enclosed trailer attached, and the store owner wanted that truck and trailer "off his lot". He indicated that he knew a "good mechanic" and he would call him. Enter Billy Joe McGalester ain't never had a lick of sense pass the biscuits please, (not his real name). Billy Joe was fishing and wouldn't be able to get to "fixin" the problem till sometime after 6 and he was done cleaning the fish he caught. He asked, if I had some way to git where I was headin and He'd fix my truck and drop it off at the motel where I was staying after he got it fixed. So I unloaded my hot rod and drove it to the motel about 5 miles away. Billy Joe showed up with my truck about 8:30 pm said he ran some checks on the electrical system and "figered it was the start cellnoid on the fender". He parked the truck and went on his way. I spent the week racing through the mountains by day in my little hot rod and getting drunk at night with my friends, never even thinking about the truck and trailer sitting in the field next to the motel. The week passed and on Sunday may 15 th I opened the trailer, loaded my hot rod in started the truck and started the 732 mile trip home. as I got up to speed I looked down at the speedometer and it wasn't working, not a problem, I'll just check my speed by my GPS, I went to set the cruise control, it didn't work, not a big problem, I'll just keep a better eye on my speed with the GPS, which verbally tells me if I'm exceeding the speed limit, when I went to make my first turn, my turn signals didn't work. I stopped at a auto parts store and checked all the fuses, Fords better idea is to not label the fuse panel and tells you to check the owners manual, Which I didn't get when I bought the truck, all the fuses were good. I have no idea what Billy Joe did to my truck but the other thing I found on my return trip was the solenoid that kicks the air conditioner out isn't working, I found that out when I hit West Virginia and it started snowing.
I've been searching everywhere for a week trying to fix these problems, OH yea, one more thing "the start cellnoid on the fender stopped workin" again.
I'm stumped I've changed relays fuses and other than prayer just about everything else except a match
Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
