Not that bad of a price really. If you have the space and don't
mind they also have it in the 1 gallon jug. That saves a bit over
the smaller bottles. I keep a few used bottles on hand and put
enough in for a fill-up that way I am not packing a gallon jug
around with me and it is much easier to handle that way.
Now that I'm processing the thread it's about cetane boost.
But for cleaner its a 4-2-1 ratio, I mix:
1 Gallon Diesel (I usually get biodiesel for it's solvent properties)
1/2 gallon Naphtha (get it at any paint store or Lowes/HD)
1 Quart of Alcohol, methanol works best if you can find it or use Isopropanol (3 red bottles of Iso-Heet is 36oz so close enough)
1.75 gallons for less than $20, mix 2-4oz per gallon of fuel. If all you ever plan to use it on is diesel then you can do the math and figure out the relevant parts you need to put in your truck.
I would not put that into a 6.0
The Alcohol will cause any water to go past the
barrier and make it to the injectors. Expensive experiment.
EDIT : Also both Alcohol and Naphtha are dry and will remove
any oils and on top of that both will lower the cetane. Both have
low autoignition temp points.
As for how much I paid for a gallon. I think it was just over $50
But I am not sure on that and would have to go back and look.
You do know that ford cetane boost lists Naphtha and the the broader naphthalene as it's ingredients as well as the entire spectrum of "Light petroleum distillate" as it's main ingredient.
