While doing my weekly check out of my truck (2000, DRW, 6 Speed - Hand Shaker with 344,420 miles) I noticed that I was about 2 quarts low on oil.
So I started at the top (of the motor that is) and looked for leaks. None at any of the usually suspected areas.
Finally found the leak after a thorough cleaning, was the HPOP at the rear plate.
I made the call to go ahead and replace the HPOP along with a re-ring of the fuel bowl.
Thanks here to Riff-Raff for the fair price, quick shipping and for the stickers.
Changed out the HPOP and put everything back together.
After the first attempt at cranking, I noticed that the driver side hose had come loose from the head. Here is a tip, check that the split ring is still in the fitting LOL.
This is where I get confused, I had read that after this process I should expect a very hard start condition.
My truck started with only 3 attempts, there was no rough idle and I just drove to Texas from Alabama with no ill affects.
Guess I got lucky
On a serious note, I now have the 'Water in Fuel' light on my dash. I know for a fact that there is NO water in the fuel bowl. What could I have done to cause this and how should I go about correcting?
Thanks in advance for reading this wall of text, and for any help.
Good job on the HPOP. That is about the standard crank time post HPOP install if you fill the reservoir.
Do you have any way to clear codes: ForScan, AE? and then see if it still exists. Have you checked the connection on the back of the fuel bowl? Inside the fuel bowl?
Also, Water in Fuel light is not steady (should have included this in OP), it comes and goes - seems to go away under acceleration, but not all of the time
