Anyone ever use vinegar, use it alot in campers hot water heater, works good, safe for enviroment, dont hurt rubber or seals, breaks loose rust, calcium. Seen a guy use in his truck and water come out brown after he flushed with just water and then poured in 2 gals and run 100 miles, he has no filter, said no flush done in over a yr.
I like it on sliced cucumbers with salt and pepper......and my fiddleheads for the people that know what those are, lol. I have used it to clean my coffee maker, it does loosen rust, lime and calcium deposits in that. Prolly work OK in the 6.0 too, but I think you'd still want to have your new oil cooler sitting on the shelf.
when you flush most will endup in the oil cooler unless you can backflush the cooler, why most will do a major flush then get ready to install a new oil cooler because its a matter of time then,,
VC-9 is the cleaner Ford uses Ivdone mine several times
using VC-9 and thermostate out run truck at high idle for 1 hr has always worked great for me
if you don't pull thermostat no cleaner will work very well if at all
Research it cause the method makes all the diff and plan on oil cooler change after the flush
Blade if you don't mind my asking...why have you chemical flushed several times? Is it something you do routinely as a PM? or has your temps spreads been out of range several times? If the temp spreads are the answer have you figured out why they have continued to do that after flushing?
its cheap, 3.60 for a gal,i forgot what the vc 9 cost, been awhile, i done a major flush on mine several mnths back with it and it was clean, ive run a filter since, just done 2 gals of vinegar, done a 350 mile run yesterday, drained last night and rust and black looking sand and something white looking come out but more black sand than the white stuff. Are you getting to much heat now in your oil?
I can not answer that question as I am still only using the stock dummy gauges. The main reason I want to flush and clean mine is that I purchased it used from the local sheriff's office. and I am unsure of when the last time they did it. They did not use the truck often. Only 3k hours/ 89.5 k when purchased.
I've done my engine flush, and my oil cooler has been doing just fine, my temp spread is never more then 12°
I used VC-9 plus Restore and Restore + stuff works awesome!!!
If you want to back flush your cooling system, which you need to do anyways to actually fully flush out the heater core, you need to not only fill from the Degas bottle but you need to disconnect the heater hose on the passenger side of the block and flush from there as well.
I just picked up some heater hose and ball valve fitting with hose connections on the end and hooked them up on both sides of the truck and flushed from there.
vc-9 is good stuff, but vinegar cheap, easy to get, enviromentaly safe, want hurt paint or skin, none toxic, works too looks like, i just did mine as a maint flush only.
