2005 ford escape airbag code 49
2005 ford escape airbag code 49
EDIT: IT'S FIXED
Hi everyone,
I just recently got a ford escape and it has an airbag code 49. Which I know is the drivers side seat position sensor.
So I had a look under there and I don't know if by me looking I knocked some wires out or not but there was a black wire and white wire out of a connector that went to a black/blue wire and green wire.
I was hoping someone would be able to tell me which way they went back in or if I can bypass this connector, as as it stands I'm not even sure what those are for as it is next to impossible to find a wiring diagram with those wire colors.
Thanks in advance and I can take a picture if required.

My guess is people are confused by your question and therefore said nothing.

Are you trying to describe a black wire with a white stripe? If so, that's for the power seats; it should connect only one way.
Or are you trying to describe a solid black wire with a solid white wire? Such a configuration would be for something else....

I am sorry, yes I was trying to describe a solid black wire and a solid white wire. I understand the solid black wire is probably grounding, but am confused as to why the other side of the connector doesn't have a solid black wire coming out of it.
And as to the connector going one way, the problem is the wires came out of the connector.

Well, I went googling around looking at seat wiring diagrams and, like you, I guess, I never came across anything with a solid black and solid white wire... perhaps what you're seeing was added by a PO? OEM wiring generally can't be "knocked out" by merely poking around.
Pictures are always helpful.

better pictures added
So to explain the first picture has the connector and those solid black and solid white wires came out. I don't even know if they are back in properly right now and am wondering if its better to take the connector out completely and just splice them together.

So update, it is fixed. Those connector wires weren't in properly. None of that green stuff should be showing. Pulled the connector apart and pull them in properly with pliers. Airbag light code gone. And luckily I put the wires in the right way first time, either that or it doesn't matter which way they go.
