1970 F250 4x4 Clutch Linkage

I'm trying to finish installing a 390 in my 1970 F250 4x4. The z-bar? does not seem correct and I'm having a hard time finding a reference picture. I have the Ford shop manual and it does not seem to show my application.

The problem is that when the block bracket is in place, as well as the one on the frame, the z-bar (i think it is called) does not want to sit square between the two. I can push the pedal and I think it will work, but it just doesn't look right.

Can anyone show me a picture of theirs, or provide any advise?

Thanks.

Yup they are kind of that way and mine to. I even tried a 2wd eng. bracket same fitment. Was going to refill the holes or cut and reweld the off set to correct the problem.

I went from an I-6 TO a 390 back in 1978 and it's still working ok.

The Z bar rides on inner/outer pivots using nylon bushings. If the pivots are worn and/or the nylon bushings are cracked, the Z bar will not line up correctly.
