I have a 64 f250 with an in cab tank that ive installed a 7.3 into. The tank has no return line fitting. Can i install a tee in front of my electric fuel pump and just loop the tpreturn line in there? The electric fuel pump is installed on the frame almost directly below the tank.
this is not a good Idea, as any air will just pump in a circle, it must return to the tank. remove the tank sender and install a return in the plate next to the pick up tube. 1/4 inch line will do.
I added a return into the top of the tank with a tube that went nearly to the bottom then angled off towards the other side. You can also run a line into the rubber section of the filler neck, but dropping the fuel in can cause foaming.
On my 69, the tank seam started seeping after a few months, and trashed what was left of the floor mat. It seems the tank is galvanized and that is what gives the final seal to it. Diesel fuel dissolves zinc, so it didn't end well.
You need a full return to get air out of the system as well.
Hmm well i already had the fuel line return into the filler neck so ill stick with that, i also had diesel in the tank for a couple years and the tank didnt leak out of the seam hopefully this isnt a problem in the future. I wonder if one of those tank liner kits would prevent this.
