Missing vacuum hose

Hello, was fixing leaking water temp sensor today and noticed the nipple under oil fill cap didn't have hose on it. After further investigation I found open spot on air intake hose with nothing in it. Both places seem to have vacuum, anyone have picture or know what goes here. BTW it is a 1999 Ranger ext cab with 3.0 flex engine and auto trans. Will try to get picture n post also. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like what is on my '96 4.0. The two are connected with a piece of rubber hose.

I have a 99 Ranger extended cab with stick shift 3.0 and i can tell you that is the spot for the hose!!!!! Also on the air intake looks like you have a missing nipple for hose to slide on ,,,, kind of like the one under the oil filler cap,,,, happy junk yard hunting ,,,, and welcome to the site

After you install the missing hose, be sure to change your oil & filter. Your engine has been sucking in unfiltered air for who know for how long...

Also, it would be a good idea to remove the intake plumbing and clean the grit from the inside.
