I am preparing to rebuild my '88 460. I will be running headers and dual exhaust and Fitech EFI. Since the factory intake is set up for factory fuel injection and the Fitech is for carb motors, what intake can I use to help with the switch. I'd prefer and aftermarket intake that might get me some better mpg and more torque to help with towing?
7.5L EFI heads have different intake and exhaust ports than the carb. heads. Adapting manifolds is going to be difficult. What's the matter with the factory EFI?
I'll need to rebuild the entire system. What it will cost, I can have a new after market system. A better after market intake can help me dial in the idle to 5000 rpm power/torque curve. I can eliminate the Ford air heater systems and use a newer style 02 sensor. I also want to update the factory exhaust.

Not sure what you mean by Ford air heater and newer style O2 sensor. Please go into more details of your perceived issues with the factory EFI system. So far all I see is a thinner wallet with very little return for your investment.
This Fitech product keeps getting mentioned, so I checked out the website to see what the big deal was. Looks like an interesting product if you are converting a carbed vehicle to EFI, but any performance claims certainly do not have a lot of supporting numbers and documents. I would be pretty surprised if this product would even match the performance of an OEM system, not that they are making any claim that it does. The HP quotes on the various packages are primarily useful as model numbers, nothing more.
I hope you are not using the assumption that just because something is aftermarket, it must be better? Just ain't so! Anyways, to use the Fitech product, you would need a 4bbl carb style intake and that would mean changing to the non EFI heads. If you want more or easier tunability, how about changing the electronics to a MegaSquirt and keeping the Ford air and fuel handling components?
