Alternative solution to IC hoses popping off

I have been running this for awhile now and it seems to do the trick. It is 1/8" copper rod bent into a ring to fit snugly into the groove of the stock IC pipes. The ends are silver soldered together and the ring is free to float in the groove.

I like it! It doesn't take much, just something the clamp can seat against.

I fabbed mine from 1/8" mild steel rod found at the hardware store metal rack. I clamped it around a pipe of smaller diameter and allowed it to overlap. I cut it to length where the spring tension of the ends butted together. I had no issues with it slipping out of the groove under pressure. Dieselsite sold them and it is where I got the idea. Since I sold my truck, I don't look at the diesel vendor sites as much and don't know if Bob Riley still sells them. They were made of stainless, IIRC.

@SRBF150 came up with something similar, but more simple for his CAC tubes. Next week I will be installing my T4/SXE kit and plan to have a bead added (all the way around and both ends) to the CAC tubes similar to the ones SRBF150 had done on his tubes.

If I cannot find a welder that will do that for me in short order, then I will get the rings from Diesel Site and call it a day...

You don’t need to add a ring to get good clamping, all you need is a clean mating surface.

Try using Simple Green or Paint Thinner to clean the oil off Both the pipe and the inside of the boot.
once they are both oil free they will never pop off.

No need for name calling. Necessity is the mother of invention. You created something that worked for you. Lots of people have like ideas and it's not surprising that others have done similar things that worked for them. I, for one, have seen the ideas of others and put my own twist on it. Maybe not always an improvement, but something that served the same purpose. Everyone can see that there are options and others can find what works for them. Thanks for sharing!

Oh no bro, not like that at all. I wasn't calling you out, just letting people know where they could get one if they liked your idea.

No matter how popular something might be, there aint no way something can be known to everyone.
